2015 Golden Globes Fashion Recap
Awards Season is officially here!
Last night marked the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. For the third and final year, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were the night’s MCs, bringing their trademarked quick wit and a bit of roasting to the stage.
George Clooney accepted the coveted “Cecil B. DeMille Award,” where he poked a bit of fun at himself, talked marriage as new wife Amal Alamuddin looked on, and closed with poignant remarks on the recent Charlie Hebdo terrorist attacks in France.
Winners
In the film categories, critically acclaimed movie Boyhood, a project that was an astonishing 12 years in the making, nabbed the night’s top honor – “Best Drama”, as well as “Best Director” for director Richard Linklater, and “Best Supporting Actress” for big-screen veteran Patricia Arquette. Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel won for “Best Picture, Comedy Or Musical” (a very well-deserved win in my opinion 🙂 ).
Julianne Moore won “Best Actress in a Drama Motion Picture” for Still Alice, and Amy Adams took top honors for “Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy” for Big Eyes. Other notable accolades from the night included Michael Keaton’s win for Birdman, J.K. Simmons’ “Best Supporting Actor” win for Whiplash, and Eddy Redmayne’s win in the “Best Actor in a Drama Motion Picture” category for his role as Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything. Another big moment of the night for film – Common and John Legend’s “Best Song” win for Glory, from the Civil Rights-era drama, Selma.
It was also a big night for the creators and cast of Amazon’s Transparent, Kevin Spacey, who won for his performance in the hit Netflix drama House Of Cards, as well as first-time winners Matt Bohmer and actress Gina Rodriguez who both took home top acting awards. Style Stars
Of course, with the start of Awards Season comes a new start to Red Carpet season! There were several fashion hits from the night, including gorgeous white gowns worn by Emily Blunt and Kate Hudson, some ravishing red frocks, and my favorite trend from the night, metallic, seen on winner Julianne Moore, Reese Witherspoon and newcomer Dakota Johnson.
My favorite fashion star of the night though, has to be Emma Stone. Stone looked absolutely flawless in a chic jumpsuit from Lanvin, featuring a metallic/bejeweled top and sleek black pant. What’s more, it had a cool bow in the back with a bit of a train, successfully mixing the one-piece jumpsuit look with a touch of a traditional dress.
With the perfect blend of busyness going on with her apparel, Stone kept the rest of her look simple, with a sleek pointed-toe black pump to finish the ensemble. SO fierce!!
If your next night out includes a look with a bit of sparkle, take a tip from Stone’s fashion playbook with a simple black pump. Here’s a great style available right now on our website!
