Watch out Donald! Last night on NBC, Rockport took over Trump’s boardroom on The Apprentice. I made sure to be home and ready to watch as nine o’clock rolled around. Normally I’ll watch The Apprentice if I think of it, but this week I wanted to be sure to catch the Rockport shoe fashion shows. I’m glad I did. Not only did I get a peek at some great new styles, but I also got to see an Apprentice first! (Note – Spoilers ahead! Skip to the last paragraph to avoid spoilers and learn more about an exciting new contest from Rockport.)

Both teams were charged with creating a fashion show to present Rockport’s Spring/Summer line for 2011. The men’s team (Octane) was to showcase the women’s shoes, while the women’s team (Fortitude) had to put the men’s line on display.

It was fairly obvious from the beginning that the women’s team was going to pull through victoriously. They created a storyline, stuck to a plan, carried out a relatively smooth practice run and seemed to work very well as a team. The only question was whether or not Rockport would appreciate team Fortitude’s fashion show twist – sending men out wearing only boxer briefs and shoes for the finale.

The men, on the other hand, weren’t having quite the same luck. They never really created a clear storyline, spent time hitting on the models, couldn’t choke out a practice run and had no clear script before show time. Not surprisingly, Octane’s fashion show was almost painful to watch. In fact, for the first time in the show’s history, The Donald didn’t even take time to deliberate. He pretty much told Fortitude they were safe right off the bat and went to work attacking the men. In the end, both Gene & Wade were fired for their part in one of the most lopsided competitions I’ve ever seen on this show.
