Oscar Predictions 2011

It’s almost here – the most highly anticipated award show in the world of movies. In just two short days, Hollywood’s elite will pack Kodak Theatre to see who will take home an Oscar during the 83rd Academy Awards. It can be hard to foresee what will happen during the live show, but this year I’m ready to make a few predictions. Read on for my best guesses on all things Oscar 2011.
Twilight’s first Breaking Dawn trailer will premier during the show. Oscar Producer Bruce Cohen called into the Ryan Seacrest Show today, announcing that there would be a special Twilight surprise on Sunday. He hinted that it wouldn’t be a person, so I’m leaning towards the premier of a scene from the highly anticipated fourth movie in the series. I’m hoping this isn’t just wishful thinking on my part!

Anne Hathaway and James Franco will perform a medley of songs from past movies – and be hit with romance rumors within the week. During his Seacrest interview, Bruce strongly hinted that the talented twosome would perform a song from Grease. My guess is it won’t stop there. I expect to see songs from other hit musicals as well. Their onstage chemistry will most likely translate into dating rumors immediately following the end of the show.

Kathy Griffin will show up on the red carpet dressed as a sunny side up egg. Not one to pass up the chance to attract a little attention to herself, I don’t see her resisting the urge to dream up a fun new scheme on Sunday. What better event to draw inspiration from than Lady Gaga’s Grammy entrance?
The Fighter will win most of the main awards, but won’t grab an Oscar for Best Picture. With ten movies up for the biggest award of the night, I see a very split vote allowing a longshot to pull out the win. Perhaps The Social Network or Toy Story 3?

My final prediction? Stylish Anne Hathaway will make no fewer than five outfit changes during the course of the night. (Hey, if Carrie Underwood can work more than 10 ensembles during the CMAs, Anne can surely pull off half that number.) And, they will all be much more in line with Anne’s normally elegant look than the outfit she pulled together for Rio’s premier last month (see picture above). About the only thing I can endorse from this look is the shoes. Platform wedges are going to be huge again this summer.
