Bachelor Brad – Back Again

I love ABC’s The Bachelor. It’s the perfect excuse to get together with a group of girlfriends and watch some mindless entertainment. You can easily guess where I spent this past Monday night! This season’s bachelor is actually a repeat. No, they aren’t re-running a previous season. They’re simply using a recycled bachelor – Brad Womack.

Brad was on the show about three years ago and ended up choosing no one in the end. This inevitably caused an uproar as people questioned the integrity of someone making such a choice on a show designed to match someone up with their ‘soul mate’ in six weeks. From what I can remember about that season, the only thing that upset me about this decision was the way the final scenes played out. It was pretty obvious that ABC set things up to mislead the two final women as much as possible. Brad made a pretty admirable decision if indeed he didn’t see himself marrying either woman in the end. (FYI, both girls are in committed relationships with other men. All’s well that ends well!)

This season he’s back and ready to find a wife. Although there looked to be a lot of good women in the bunch, there were definitely a few that stood out right away (Vampire Madison, Rockette Keltie and Southern Belle Emily caught my attention). I’m excited to see how this season goes and hopeful that Brad will find his match! My only concern is the age of the women selected for the show. With a bachelor knocking on 40 (Brad is 38), shouldn’t the majority of the women be older than their mid-twenties? (Missed the show? Check out this great recap!)

Enough romance, let’s talk shoes! For the first time that I can remember, there were some shoes that stood out more than the women wearing them. Lisa M. rocked a cute pair of ruby red slippers straight out of The Wizard of Oz. Meghan wore a pair of sky-high platform wedges – in suede no less. If I remember correctly, she worked in the fashion industry. With that in mind, I’m not entirely convinced her expertise showed well in her choice of footwear. In general, the color and style should have served her well. In this case, they may have been just a little too far over the edge for my taste. What did you think?
