It’s never too soon to plan ahead.

Whether we’d like to admit it or not, fall will be here before we know it. While there’s still plenty of time to rock your favorite summer sandals, it’s time to start planning; it’s time to figure out how to transition from summer shoes to autumn styles. But don’t fret too much. When you do decide to take a glance in your closet and make room for new fall looks, you may find you’re already wearing one of the biggest fall trends right now – the chunky heel.

I know I have a few pairs of sandals in my closet with the comfortable chunky heel, and you probably do too. Shoes with a chunky heel are great because they’re easier to walk in than a heel with a tall stiletto (although I still love a good pair of stiletto heels).

Chunky heels also add the right amount of height you desire, creating the look of a lean, elongated leg. It only makes sense that a thicker, sturdier heel would make the transition into the colder months on pumps, peep toe heels, booties and shooties. The chunky heel is already popping up in fall runway shows for Lanvin, Michael Kors, Chanel, Derek Lam and more.
