Fall Shoe Trend: 60s-Inspired Fashion

Vintage ShoeI absolutely love the show Mad Men.  The hit 1960s-era show on AMC continues to be a favorite among critics, and carries a solid fan base as it heads into its fifth season this March.  Besides tuning in to catch the latest drama in the lives of the dapper but troubled Don Draper  and other characters of the show,  fans may be taking note of the era’s fashions as well.

Elle  and Glamour recently noted that shows like Mad Men  have a direct influence on the latest trends in fashion. This season, 1960s clothing and shoe styles are popping up all over fashion runways.  You can also find movie stars such as Carrie Mulligan and Michelle Williams rocking 60s style. 1960s/mod-inspired styles like low kitten heels, chunky heeled mary jane pumps, tailored men’s oxfords and structured handbags are truly taking the fall fashion season by storm.

With this fall 2011 trend in mind, I’ve found some shoe and handbag styles that I think fit perfectly. They’re trendy, affordable, and I’d like to think the characters on my beloved show would approve. 🙂
