Golfing Style for 2011
I’ve got golf fever.
Since football season ended I’ve been waiting for the snow to melt up here in Wisconsin so I can hit the links. Spring fever hits everybody in different ways and everyone up here in the great white north is feeling the fever. We still have tons of snow on the ground and even when it hits 40 degrees people are out in t-shirts and even perhaps a pair of shorts.
The better golf tournaments are starting to show up on the professional tour. I always look forward to the Masters this time of year. Last year Phil Mickelson was able to pull off the victory and Fred Couples made some fireworks in the early going.
Now that things are finally looking like golfing weather I thought it would be the perfect time to check out what’s on tap in the golf shoe fashion world this season…
Golf Shoes 2011
There are some exciting things happening in the golf fashion world in2011. I checked out the latest golf shoes. There is something for just about everyone. The classic look is still there with a few updates. The sporty look is still in and there is even the casual cool look, which I’m really excited about.
Shop: Ecco Street
Last year at the 2010 Masters Fred Couples, at age 50, caught everybody off guard when he shot an opening round 66. Fred struggled in the second round, but hung in there over the weekend and finished 6th. He was the turn-back-the-clock story of the week, but also newsworthy were his shoes.
Throughout Masters Weekend the golf world was buzzing about Freddie’s casual golf shoes. They were low top, flat bottom with nubs, and crazy neon colors on the bottom as well. The Ecco Street shoe began as a crazy idea that is now something golfers love. The shoe is comfortable and can go from your home to the course and out to dinner if you want.
The Ecco Street will be my pair of shoes this year.

Ecco Classic Golf
Shop: Ecco Classic Golf
For the more traditional golfer Ecco still has the classic saddle look. This style shoe has been around for decades and for good reason. White saddle shoes with black or brown go with all golf attire and always give off the classic country club feel. These are updated for the 2011 season with all the necessary comfort and durability features.
Asics Gel Ace Tour Golf
Shop: Asics Gel Ace Tour Golf
I almost got these instead for this year (before the Street came out). These golf shoes from Asics have a sporty look that is ready for any terrain on the course. They offer full support for the twisting and torquing that happens to your feet on the course. It’s waterproof for extra protection and comfortable like an athletic shoe for those 36-hole golf days.
There is lots to like about the golf fashion world in 2011.
Fred Couples is seeing his influence come out. Others on tour will always make their statements when the rise up the leaderboard and get featured on TV Sunday afternoon.
I’m still not sure if Rickie Fowler’s style will catch on in 2011 though 😉
