Trend Alert: High Heel Fashion Trends 2011
I came across an article on MSN Style entitle Hottest Pairs of High Heels to Hit the Red Carpet and just had to share. High heels are my favorite shoe to wear and a lot of the style hints from this story are spot on. Besides, it’s always nice to get a jumpstart on spring shoe shopping. Why not get as much time as possible out of a new pair of trendy pumps?
Below, take a look at some of the trends mentioned in the article. I’ll be posting the rest of the trends early next week. Of the six high heel trends listed below, I must say I’m most in love with the Razzle Dazzle, glittery look and the Peek-a-Boo Toes. A shoe combining both of these details would be the perfect option for a New Year’s party and would carry over well into any spring or summer ‘dressy’ event.
Peek-a-Boo Toes: I love seeing the newest twist on this classic toe bed style. I don’t think I’ve seen many shoes showing just a glimpse of toe until recently. As a bonus, pedicure upkeep isn’t as important with this style! |
Electric Hues: I will agree with just about any fashion advice that recommends a splash of color. If you’re not yet comfortable adding bright hues to your tops, pants or skirts, testing out the look on a pair of shoes is a great way to get your feet wet. They add a lot to your look without being overwhelming. |
Razzle Dazzle: Give ’em the old razzle dazzle with glittery shoes. Sparkly shoes paired with a simple dress can help turn a boring look into an eye-catching fashion do. I really like this style paired with a 1920s style frock. (Maybe because the name reminds me of Chicago!) |
Heavy Metal: A trend with staying power! The studded/edgy look has been popular in the fashion world the past few seasons and doesn’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon. Pair heavy metal shoes with a more feminine outfit for a fun mix of seemingly contradictory styles. |
Animal Instinct: Take a walk on the wild side with a pair of animal print shoes. This is a look that seems to come and go fairly regularly, so investing in a basic, timeless style shoe bearing this material is a pretty safe footwear investment. |
Sound Structure: This style is new to me as well. Shoes that take a page from architecture are fun and include details that are harder to find in a normal shoe. I would recommend sticking to a simple outfit with this look. This will help draw attention to the unique details in your footwear. |
I am loving all of these pumps! I’m so happy to see that pumps, animal prints and solids of all colors are in for this season. Pumps can dress up any outfit and can be paired with skinny jeans or a cute dress. I love wearing pumps because they give a little sparkle and sophication to any personality. I know they put a sparkle in my eye 🙂 My friends are very creative in dressing up pumps with different trends. They both graduated from FIDM/Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising so they know a lot about fashion trends. They also told me that FIDM has a footwear design program for people who want to become shoe designers, which is pretty cool. If you want more information on FIDM’s footwear deisgn program, check out their website 🙂
