The ever-changing entertainment world always offers new surprises and formats. Many people in today’s generation have been keeping up with their favorite TV shows and movies through online companies such as Hulu and Netflix. These companies have a great advantage because they don’t pause the show for commercials! Let’s face it not everyone enjoys their favorite show being interrupted. Some TV and movie producers are even starting to use companies like Netflix as the main way to air their TV shows.

House of Cards is one of these examples – and a highly successful one at that! Its first season was in 2013, the second season started on Friday, February 14, 2014, and a third season has recently been confirmed.

House of Cards is set in Washington, D.C. and revolves around the story of Frank Underwood (actor Kevin Spacey), a Democrat from South Carolina’s 5^th Congressional District and House Majority Whip. After Underwood gets passed over for appointment as Secretary of States, he decides to exact his revenge on those who betrayed him. Other actor lead roles in House of Cards include Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, and Kristen Connolly.

While some TV watchers might find an online-only webcast odd, House of Cards has proved that this format can be extremely successful. This past July in 2013, House of Cards won nine of Netflix’s fourteen total nominations for the Primetime Emmy Awards. In December 2013, House of Cards actor Robin Wright also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress. What a success for an online-based television show — The House of Cards has certainly played its cards right!

The actors and actresses from the successful show are showing up more frequently in the media, too. This past weekend, the cast was seen at the Los Angeles Premiere of House of Cards Season 2 on Netflix. The entire House of Cards crew made an appearance and stood out in their stunning outfits. Kevin Spacey looked dapper in a tan suit, maroon and blue diagonal-striped tie, and blue oxford shoes with red laces. Spacey sure knows how to tastefully match a tie and shoes! He looked great as he walked the red carpet and prepared for the start of Season 2.
