Halloween Costumes Ideas – What Shoes To Wear Continued

Halloween’s getting closer and closer. If you haven’t started planning this year’s costume, now is the time to start. Last week’s post on Halloween costume ideas took a look at the first half of NRF’s list of the top ten adult Halloween costumes ideas for 2010. Didn’t find anything that seemed right? Take a look at the bottom half of the list and our accompanying shoe suggestions below. Good luck and happy hunting!

6) Our Feline Friends

MIA Tinseltown Flat

This was another costume choice that surprised me. I didn’t realize that so many people like dressing up as a cat for Halloween. I suppose it’s pretty simple to pull this look together – black leggings, black shirt and a set of ears. Draw some whiskers on and you’re good to go! Black flats are the perfect finishing touch to this Halloween costume idea. Go for an embellished pair to ensure you can bring the shoes into your everyday wardrobe once Halloween is finished. Some embellished black flats to take a look at include the Roxy Giselle Flat, the Fergalicious Alana Flat & the MIA Tinseltown Flat.

7) The Undead

Luichiny Fanta See Pump

Zombies are another classic Halloween monster costume idea, albeit one that requires a certain affinity for blood and gore. If you really want to kick it up a notch, you’ll also have to work on perfecting your stilted zombie walk. I’m thinking gray shoes fit this look well. If you’re looking for comfort, the Blowfish Genie Pump is a great option. The Born Rosette Pump is a good look if you don’t mind some heel height and want a shoe that would also transition well into a professional wardrobe. Should you want to try to pull off a sexy zombie look, you can’t go wrong with one of my new favorites – the Luichiny Fanta See Pump.

8 ) Come Fly with Me

Steve Madden Kinnetic Flat

Ah the fairy costume! This one definitely appeals to me – I must admit I love using Halloween as an excuse to dress up in classic ‘girly’ costumes. This costume idea should be paired with something sparkly. The Steve Madden Kinnetic Flat is a good way to add some glam to your costume. If you’re looking for silvery shimmer, check out the Nina Florina Pump. Looking for a little color? I would suggest the Nina Erna Pump.

9) Take it to the Hoop (Tie)

adidas Response Trail 17

Show off your sporty side this Halloween by taking advantage of a relatively easy costume idea – the athlete! This tied for number nine on the list, along with Batman (see below). An easy shoe solution for this is to simply put on a good old-fashioned pair of sneakers. I’m a fan of the adidas Response Trail 17 shoe by adidas. The Asics Gel Antares TR 2 and the New Balance WR730 are good options as well.

9) To the Bat Cave (Tie)

Chinese Laundry Nitro Boot

I would think a superhero would normally only be popular during Halloween if a hit movie about that character had recently been released. As far as I can remember, there haven’t been any new Batman movies in a few years – there goes that theory! If you’re planning to dress like the Caped Crusader this Halloween, you’re going to be somewhat limited in your shoe choices. For the guys – black dress shoes are a safe bet. A couple specific options would be the Born Bowie Slip-On or the Florsheim Ellsworth Slip-On. For the women – try out a pair of knee high or over-the-knee, flat black boots. The Madden Girl Lacosta Boot, the R2 Amberly Boot and the Chinese Laundry Nitro Boot would all work nicely over your Batman costume.

10) The Count

Carlos by Carlos Santana Venetian Pump

Last on the list of top Halloween costumes this year is Dracula. This one is a little tougher for me – maybe because I don’t know very much about this character! (Although after doing a little research I’m very interested in reading the book.) Again, I think I would go with something in black – maybe even with ruffles. My top picks would be either the Carlos by Carlos Santana Venetian Pump or the Born Violetta Bootie. Both add a touch of the Victoria Era, which matches nicely with costumes for this nineteenth century monster.

That wraps up our list of the top ten adult Halloween costumes for 2010. Check back next week for hints on getting your littlest family members ready for a night of trick or treating! In case you missed it, check out our original post on the top five Halloween costumes for adults.
